YP Letters: Farming in France and more reasons to despise EU

YOUR correspondent Martin Fletcher (The Yorkshire Post, March 10) from Thorpe Hesley admits at the start of his letter that he doesn’t know much about farming and then proceeds to regale us with his view of the lazy, striking French farmer.

This is a surprise to me because every time I visit France I see food shops full of delicious cheeses, bread, ham, wine, beef, sausage, jam and many other things. I suppose they must all be imported. I wonder where they import their tripe from. Thorpe Hesley, perhaps?

SINCE the failure of David Cameron’s puerile attempt at reforming the unreformable EU, he has tried every scare story he can think of and used any self-seeker willing to help him in his deceitful campaign to keep Britain shackled to this German dictatorship.

His latest ally is Francois Hollande, who is actually threatening us with dire consequences if we leave. We have been threatened by far better Frenchmen than him.

THE EU sells more to the UK, by value, than we sell to them. Yet some Remainers claim that, because the EU is bigger than the UK, making their percentage exposure smaller, it will be tempted to start a trade war with us. Such threats are akin to the EU cutting of its nose just to spite the UK – both puerile and unlikely. Free trade is a two way process, benefiting both.

SUGGESTIONS that the Queen prefers “Brexit” have, as expected, been denied as inaccurate by Buckingham Palace and a formal complaint lodged. Also she is reported to have blasted Nick Clegg MP on his pro-EU stance, which Clegg has totally denied as nonsense.

Is this the same Clegg that denied he would ever raise university fees? Why shouldn’t the Queen have an opinion?

After all, it’s her sovereignty that’s being given away.
