I can understand why many females saw fit to gather for International Women’s Day. After all, in many parts of the world women are still treated as second-class citizens, something that should be a real no-go in the 21st century.

And, in Britain, of course we still have the old boys’ network, as shown in the fact that two of the last three Prime Ministers – David Cameron and now Boris Johnson – were educated at Eton.

Yet how many ordinary working class boys or girls went to a fee paying schools? Very very few, as their fees can run to £30-40,000 a year.

So really, who is being discriminated against is not women, but those from the lowest social class, whatever their sex.

Instead of foolish attempts to promote one sex instead of another, we must be working to remove class discrimination.

Abolishing fee-paying schools would be an excellent start.
