April 14: Pinning down DCI Banks mystery in Leeds

From: Tom Whitley, Healing, Near Grimsby.

DAVID Parker (The Yorkshire Post, April 8) may be interested to know where Peter Robinson, the author of the Inspector Banks novels, considered the fictitious “Eastvale” headquarters to be.

In response to an e-mail I sent to him in Toronto two years ago, he told me that he envisaged the location to be between Richmond and Thirsk. I had speculated where I thought it might be from some of the location clues in his excellent books. I was not far out.

From: Sam Doyle, Harrogate Road, Leeds.

WITH regard to the correspondence on the TV series DCI Banks, I feel the scripts totally misrepresent the books.
