April 21: Lucky to have NHS care

From: Jackie Thompson, Owstwick, Hull.

ON Good Friday, I had the misfortune to suffer a stroke which resulted in needing urgent surgery on my carotid artery. I write in praise of the Yorkshire Ambulance Service, paramedics and Hull Royal Infirmary.

The speed at which my illness was dealt with was truly amazing. The care I received in Hull Royal Infirmary was unsurpassed. Everyone from the cleaning staff to the surgeons were wonderful. No praise is high enough. Their professionalism knew no bounds.

Given the criticism of the NHS, I felt I had to let people know of my experience. I am making a full and complete recovery and feel extremely lucky to have had access to such wonderful care.
