Bribes aplenty as parties grow desperate ahead of election

the three main political parties offered no end of bribes to the Scots during the referendum. Now we have the same at the party conferences as the Conservatives turn their attention to next year’s General Election – and guess what, even more bribes.

First one out the box is a promise to build more houses – “if you vote for us!” is the cry. Okay, so if they perceive that is an important issue, what excuse have they for not having built more houses over the last four years?

I wonder what other unrealistic inducements will appear over the next months, certainly most of their promises from the last election have failed to materialise, hence the move by voters towards Ukip.

At least Nigel Farage gives candid answers when being interviewed. Both the Tories and Labour have failed dismally to counteract the continual inflow of illegal immigrants to our shores. The three main parties have failed consistently to realise that we are a small country compared to other EU states and that we cannot afford to subsidise all those who come here to take advantage of our NHS and benefit system.

Maybe the swing to Ukip is because people are wholeheartedly sick of career politicians who fail to deliver each and every term. Many voted for Nick Clegg – a breath of fresh air – but he capitulated and changed sides. As for Labour, what are their aims?

SCOTLAND, Northern Ireland and Wales have their devolved parliaments and are going 
to get more freedom over 
powers such as tax-raising. Fair enough.

Labour were quite happy to allow this to happen and to see the Conservatives isolated in Wales and Scotland with virtually no chance of forming a Government. In fact Labour was gloating that David Cameron had better stay away from Scotland in case he turned the Scots in favour of independence.

Now the English are demanding the same national parliament powers, what does the Labour Party say? It is opposed because the Tories could form the government of the UK therefore Labour would have virtually no power in England.

This is Labour hypocrisy at work, glad to construct national legislative assemblies which isolate the Conservatives, but crying foul when the boot is on the other foot.
