Choirs urged to lend their voices to campaign

From: Lynne Desborough, Fundraising Manager, Heart Research UK, Suite 12D, Joseph’s Well, Leeds.

CALLING all choirs and music groups in Yorkshire – we need your help. Heart Research UK is a Yorkshire-based national charity that funds pioneering research into heart disease as well as encouraging people to live a heart-healthy lifestyle.

We’re about to begin organising our biggest fund-raising event of the year – Sing for Your Heart – which usually runs from December 8 to 15, and we rely on choirs or music groups performing in public to raise money for us.

We are calling on choirs, music groups or singers in Yorkshire to support us by singing on our behalf.

We are particularly looking for a choir, singer or group to perform at Kirkstall Abbey on November 24 (noon-2pm); the Princes Quay Shopping Centre in Hull on December 8; Leeds City Station on December 14 (4pm-6pm); Meadowhall, Sheffield on December 7 and 15 (noon-6pm), and the Leeds German Market in Millennium Square on December 8 or 16 (noon-2pm). HRUK staff and volunteers will be on hand to support you and set up the event.

We would really appreciate your support as most of the money we raise locally is spent locally. We’ve already funded nearly £3.1m on research schemes in Yorkshire in the last 10 years – and nearly £350,000 on healthy heart schemes in the county.
