Christian inspiration

From: Duncan Anderson, Mill Lane, East Halton, Immingham.

DO the whinging Right who claim the UK is “essentially a Christian society” actually go to church on a regular basis or do they go just for christenings, marriages and funerals?

It must be remembered a lot more churches would be closed if it wasn’t for eastern European Christians. Far more Asians attend religious ceremonies weekly than “Anglo-Saxon Christians” in the UK.

For many decades the
whinging Right has been
dragging the UK backwards.
We now have an opportunity
to shrug off the shackles of these “grumpy old men” and move onwards and upwards with a creative and inspirational spirit within a country that was multi-cultural before it became Christian.

Crowing for the sound of birds

From: Ken Holmes, Cliffe Common, Selby.

MAY I put things into perspective for the chairman of Hemsworth Town Council, and the complainants of the crowing cockbirds. I have a deaf son who, along with many more suffering the same affliction, would dearly love to hear cockbirds crowing, whatever the time of day or night.

As for myself I would rather hear the crow of a cockbird than some of the cockbirds and hens that I have come across that sit on their perches in council chambers.

Nanny state

From: John Gordon, Whitcliffe Lane, Ripon.

IT is clear that Louise Mensch MP is not short of a bob or two, why doesn’t she employ a nanny and send her children to boarding school when they are old enough?

She seems to put Louise Mensch first and I agree with Jayne Dowle (Yorkshire Post, August 13) – her sense of public duty is very low on the list.
