Christian values are disappearing

From: John Gordon, Whitcliffe Lane, Ripon.

IT is sad that Christian values are disappearing from our culture. The Bible is replaced by Harry Potter. Hymns are no longer sung in school for fear of offending other religions. A simple “God bless you” occasions mirth. It is not only in church that young people don’t know how to behave but they can’t seem to be able to grasp the idea that other cultures still have values. They go abroad and get themselves arrested and our consulates spend their time bailing them out.

IS it necessary to publish such enlarged photographs of criminals such as paedophile Daniel Taylor who hoarded 300,000 images of children? The behaviour of these people is repulsive enough without giving them such exposure.

Television is worse because on each bulletin we get the same photo time after time, often zooming in until the shot fills the screen.

Happy puppy

Thank you for printing the marvellous photograph of the happy puppy, Flaky (Yorkshire Post, August 5) who has been transformed by the love and veterinary care of the RSPCA staff.

I am sure that many readers, including myself, were interested to see how he has progressed since his terrible skin condition was reported in the Yorkshire Post in May. He will make a lovely pet for his new owner.

GABBY Logan is quoted as saying “All is right with the world” when David Beckham kissed her on the cheek (Words of the Week, Yorkshire Post, August 6).

Mrs Logan should watch TV news and get a proper view of the world.
