Clarkson’s talents aren’t worthy of comment

From: Mike Smith, Birkby, Huddersfield.

ONE of the more surprising comments (The Yorkshire Post, March 12) is the claim by our Prime Minister that Jeremy Clarkson is a ‘huge talent’. That must set a few voters wondering what David Cameron’s perception of talent is when it comes to choosing personalities he selects to help govern our nation.

Clarkson has certainly amassed a huge following of sycophantic petrolheads over the years but what are the ‘talents’ he has exploited to achieve that?

The man is an opinionated, self-centered bigot who apparently throws his toys out of his pram when he cannot have his own way. It is easy to understand the BBC’s attraction to Clarkson for pulling viewers to their quota of trash programmes and our Prime Minister’s envy of his ability to collect supporters and make loads of money. Otherwise, I am a bit surprised to find the leader of our nation even bothering to comment on the Clarkson controversy.

POOR Jeremy Clarkson. I am not a fan of his and I abhor his use of violence.

However, he is now being hauled over the coals for using words which appear in the Oxford Dictionary. Who is he offending?
