Surely a fair and easy was is to let everybody have stamps
at 2011 prices from the Post Office? This will save a lot of paperwork and let people continue to send cards and letters to friends.

Conservatives’ par for course

From: Brian Sheridan, Redmires Road, Sheffield.

SURELY Edward White doesn’t begrudge me a clumsy shank at the American golfing fraternity (Yorkshire Post, October 11). Of course, the Ryder Cup has nothing to do with politics except, I would say, that it unites conservatives on both sides of the Atlantic.

Nor does he tell me anything about the history of the competition that I didn’t know already.

You see, I have become a world authority on golf. For my sins, just about all my drinking acquaintances either play or have played the game.

Lessons in debt

From: B Murray, Halifax Road, Sheffield.

I SINCERELY hope that all the new schools which the Government is planning to
build are not constructed
under the PFI scheme which
has burdened many hospitals with debt.
