Digital far from sound concept

From: Vera Lloyd, Westfield Crescent, Kirkhamgate, Wakefield.

I WOULD be interested to know if other readers of the Yorkshire Post feel the difference in reception on the television since digital was introduced.

At times it sounds as if they are talking in the next room, or as my mother would have said “with a mouthful of pudding”.

The only clear programmes seem to be Countryfile and those related to travel.

I wonder sometimes if the discussions are meant to be for viewers or the people taking part. I have got rid of my modern radio and get excellent service from my old Sony model.

Also, the effect that the television has on my head after listening for half an hour is unbearable.

Nuisance emails you can bank on

From: Peter Hyde, Driffield, East Yorkshire.

I AM at present getting lots of emails purporting to be from either a bank I don’t deal with or some kind philanthropist female living in Nigeria wanting to share her good fortune of having either legal or illegal monies at her disposal.

I even had one from the United Nations compensation fund, wanting to give me money back that I had coming from them.

Where do they think I come from? Under the gooseberry bush? Just where do they get my address from too?

Still I should think there will still be greedy idiots who can be taken in.

Dog licence with a price that bites

From: Ann Petherick, Scarcroft Hill, York.

I AGREE with John Watson (Yorkshire Post, May 31) that the dog licence should be reintroduced but not with the figure he suggests. I think £25 is far too low. I suggest £100,
better still £500, but with a full rebate for those who can demonstrate that their dogs are micro-chipped and regularly inoculated.
