EX-VOTE Leave campaigner Michael Gove is adding British employers to the who-to-blame list if our European Union exit is as chaotic as feared (The Yorkshire Post, September 24).

Only a quarter are “fully ready” for transition ending in December, Mr Gove says. Should we not then be asking questions of the man whose Cabinet responsibilities include no-deal preparations?

Worryingly, Mr Gove is tipped as a Boris Johnson successor. Like Mr Johnson, he is a former journalist – which recent evidence suggests is not an indicator of potential prime ministerial competence. If Mr Gove is our next Prime Minister, he should note something Mr Johnson has not – not everyone is fooled when you blame others for your mistakes.

YOUR article on a report from the think-tank UK in a Changing Europe lead me to read their publications closely (The Yorkshire Post, September 23). Sadly, they are yet another organisation which ignores the elephant in the room – the enormous balance of trade deficit we have with the EU, which is around £100bn annually in goods.
