Don’t bleed drivers dry

From: Karl Sheridan, Selby Road, Holme on Spalding Moor, East Yorkshire.

APPARENTLY, the Government is still intent on drawing even the last pint of blood from the helpless motorist and transport business by persisting in increasing fuel duty as planned, regardless of the staggeringly obvious effect it is having on the economy.

We will be looking at £7.50 per gallon of fuel within weeks which not only sounds expensive but is expensive. Surely we have a right to demand that fuel duty is reduced, my point being that the coalition was voted in to look after the country and more importantly us – not to bleed us dry and knowingly cripple any slight chance of raising the economy from the ashes.

Work fair?

COULD someone be so kind enough as to explain to me the fuss about the voluntary youth employment scheme introduced recently by the Government?

As quite a lot of people see it, they are not working for nothing they are being paid JobSeekers Allowance. I would have thought the idea was to try to put some work ethic into the young and this ought to be applauded.

As for Archbishop John Sentamu putting his two pennyworth in, how much is the church doing to assist the young unemployed?

Space bugged

From: Tim Mickleburgh, Boulevard Avenue, Grimsby.

ONE unforeseen circumstance arising from having low floor buses to help wheelchair access is the number of buggies taken on board. Which is fine when there are few passengers, but on other occasions these buggies take up seats making less room for fare paying travellers to sit down. Surely, therefore, if they occupy such space then a charge should be imposed for them?
