Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visit was joy to behold – Yorkshire Post Letters

From: Marilyn S Shaw, Thornhill, Dewsbury.

HAVING seen the response of the Welsh minister (can’t remember his name) and the Scottish minister (aware of her name), I feel the sour comments about the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to be unwarranted (The Yorkshire Post, December 9).

I feel sure most of the people who received a visit from Prince William and Catherine were delighted with their kindness and thoughtfulness at this time.

We have all become tired with the negativity produced by politicians and journalists and so to see some kindness and joy makes the dark days more bearable.

YOU were quite right to expose the hypocisy of Nicola Sturgeon, Scotland’s First Minister, and Vaughan Gething, the Welsh Health Secretary, over the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Royal Train tour.

They would have been first to glad-hand the Royal couple if they had received an invite.

They didn’t, because this trip was about the people and William and Kate’s gratitude towards those working in communities like Batley, not
ego-maniacal politicians.
