February 19 letters: Will of people should prevail

From: Miss J Hopper, Hazel Heads, Baildon.

IN his letter (The Yorkshire Post, February 11), Dr Chris Daley says we all know that any honour now given to Gary Verity would be devalued. I disagree, far better for an honour to be bestowed due to the will of the people rather than the will of the faceless suits of Westminster.

From: Mr H Flint, Thirks, North Yorkshire.

I AGREE with Tom Richmond (The Yorkshire Post, February 17) – Yorkshire could be caught in a post-election pincer movement led by Nicola Sturgeon and Boris Johnson. The fault rests with the poor calibre of this region’s MPs. Where is the Gary Verity-like figure at Westminster batting for Yorkshire – and England?
