Fuming at meddling MEP telling us what to do
IN trying to stop people using e-cigarettes, MEP Linda McAvan is merely following in the great tradition of Socialist politicians, who, it seems, are born with an itch to run other people’s lives for them, on the grounds that “ordinary” citizens cannot possibly know what is good for them and what is not.
One result of this interfering approach has been the ban on smoking itself which has reached hysterical proportions and has all but decimated that grand old English tradition, the local pub.

Votes in the European Parliament are not usually “crucial” as your columnist Sarah Freeman (Yorkshire Post, September 6) suggests, though I imagine the likes of Ms McAvan would like to think so. All the same I think I’ll buy one of these devices and a goodly supply of double strength nicotine inserts.
Not because I smoke, but I’m not having Socialist mini-politicians telling me I can’t. I’m a big boy now, Linda.
