Get rid of suits to help NHS

From: M Hellawell, Cross Lane, Scarborough.

I AGREE with Duncan L Long’s recent letter ‘Get Rid of NHS Officials’. These six figure salaried officials with their stupid ideas are not helping solve the NHS crisis, and if they were removed it would free up money for where it is needed.

Put a medically trained chief in each area, empower the senior ward sister to run her ward without interference and red tape, and put training back in the hospitals instead of just university courses. The cutting down of beds, and facilities is also stupid when the elderly population is growing at a fast rate. Hospital grouping, instead of closing down facilities, would allow a better structure for both providing the care needed and logistic provision in each area.
