GMC has blinkered outlook on matters of faith
BEING a Christian – one of a majority faith in Britain – I was astounded to hear that the General Medical Council is investigating a Christian doctor for discussing his faith with patients (Yorkshire Post, May 23). Had the doctor withheld orthodox medical treatment I could have understood, but sometimes when orthodox medical treatment has run its course with no effect, there is no other alternative than possibly turning to God.
I think that this is yet another attempt at political correctness that in this case is utterly wrong.

Everyone has a right to discuss their religion with anyone. Free speech – isn’t that what our grandparents fought for?
In my own village we have a vibrant Christian community, and we have proved that prayer has a great beneficial effect on those who seek our help after enduring debilitating illnesses that seem to defy modern medical drugs.
I would ask what is so wrong about offering the helping hand of Jesus to those who are desperate?
