Going to war over name slip

I AGREE with E Andrassy (The Yorkshire Post, March 16) it is upsetting when supposedly educated people make mistakes such as the Yorkshire and Lancashire Regiment.
There is no such regiment. as I was a member of the Y&L Regtl. band from 1955 to 1961. If I am not mistaken, the York and Lancaster Regiment disbanded in 1968.

ISN’T it time to do away with the Union flag and replace it with a plain white flag? Given we have surrendered control over our affairs to Brussels, it would be far more appropriate.
