Hart ducks responsibility

From: Tim Radcliffe, Binns Lane, Holmfirth, West Yorkshire.

THE stupidity of Gary Hart and his comments regarding his responsibility for the deaths of 10 people in the Great Heck rail crash is eye-watering (Yorkshire Post, February 28).

The carnage he created obviously does not weigh very heavily on his shoulders, if at all.

To state that he was not responsible for the tragedy and to lay it at the door of “fate” indicates that he should have served the full five-year sentence in prison rather than the paltry 30 months.

Scottish mean time?

From: Jeremy Kilner, Choppards Mill, Holmfirth.

I AM glad that we are again thinking of putting the clocks “back” another hour.

Last time we had a referendum on this, it wasn’t approved because too many Scots voted against.

Surely, we – the English – could agree to this, and if the Scots don’t want it, then they could have their own time zone. After all, lots of countries have more than one.

Good excuse for a party

JUST to let you know I’ve always been one to have a party.

My children always had one on birthdays. I also arranged one for my mother for her 80th birthday and a reunion for my work friends.

I’m planning a street party where I live, with no money to be involved, with neighbours and friends for Prince William’s wedding to Kate Middleton (Yorkshire Post, February 28).

Brave move

From: Dai Woosnam, Woodrow Park, Grimsby.

A BRAVE move from Steve Davies to be the first top-class cricketer to “come out” (Yorkshire Post, March 1).

“Brave” because he has a long career ahead of him, and you can just imagine the possible future sledging from all those Aussies.
