Jan 12: Trains bad in any language

“THE Government ... have forgotten that train travel is meant to be a public service” (The Yorkshire Post, January 2). Both you and your readers have reminded them often enough but, given their remote and gilded backgrounds, can we expect them to understand what this means? Might it help if we said it in Latin?
