July 23: Time is right – so get on with it

IS it time for a Yorkshire Mayor? The answer is surely a resounding ‘yes’. Further, get on with it as a matter of urgency before we get left even further behind.

SURELY what we should be considering is not a Yorkshire mayor, but a Yorkshire president, so that we’ll be well set up ready for independence as soon as a referendum can be arranged.

I’D be more sympathetic to your call for a Yorkshire mayor if the role was likely to attract high calibre business leaders rather than the same old career politicians and officials who have allowed Manchester to steal such a march on us.
