Leave justice to the courts

From: Roger M Dobson, Ash Street, Crosshills, Keighley.

IF the disclosure regarding the number of cautions offered to criminals is proved to be correct, it is absolutely disgusting.

The police are there to catch criminals, not to act as judge and jury. It is no wonder so many magistrates’ courts have had to be closed when the police have been doing their job for them.

The Home Secretary Theresa May deserves to be sacked immediately.

Lesson in life for apprentice

From: David H Rhodes, Keble Park North, Bishopthorpe, York.

I WAS amused by your news item on The Apprentice candidate Gabrielle Omar (Yorkshire Post, May 24) confessing that she wished she’d called in sick.

Her statement shows very clearly why the reason to fire her was correct. Throwing a sickie is, businesswise, never an alternative.

If there is a problem it needs to be worked on and overcome. An early lesson in life may benefit them for the future.

Anti-British view of workers

I SEE the Tories are up to their usual policy of being anti-British as far as workers are concerned.

Thatcher the destroyer changed employment laws three times when she was in power. In addition, during the 18 years that the Tories were in government, there were over 20 million job losses.

The Tories couldn’t create jobs last time and they won’t do it during this recession.

It just shows the contempt that the Tories have for this country.

I presume that interviewers on television prepare their questions in advance but what is particularly annoying is their habit of asking the question half way through the answer to the previous question.

We can all think of interviewers who are guilty of this but I would like to put the BBC’s Newsnight in the dock.
