We elect MEPs who have the power to reject and amend all EU legislation and to sack the Commission (which is the government of the EU).

The Commission is appointed by the elected governments of every EU country.

And any fundamental change to the EU (such as the signing of any internal or external treaty) is not only subject to the approval of the European Parliament but also to the approval of each individual country in the EU.

The coalition government passed a law requiring an in out referendum in the event of any future EU treaty which transfers power from the UK to the EU.

Here in Britain, we have an unfair voting system that gave the Conservatives a majority of MP’s despite only receiving 37% of the vote.

UKIP ended up with only one MP, and were poorly short-changed for their 13% of the vote.

We have an unelected House of Lords, no written Constitution, and are treated as Subjects of a Monarchy rather than empowered Citizens.

Local Government has been stripped of any meaningful powers.

Wealth and power is increasingly concentrated in London and the South-East, whereas the Regions, including Yorkshire are ignored.

Yes the EU needs reform but so does Britain. We can reform the EU by playing an active part on the inside, rather than a leap into the dark.
