March 19 letters: Fed-up with all the roadworks

I GO into Hull city centre every day and am put off by the amount of road works. They seem to never end. The men seem to disappear after a few days and leave a hole in the road.

It is so disheartening to see road after road in the same state and the treatment of each case. I never see this when I travel elsewhere.

WHY is it taking Leeds City Council weeks to resurface the A65 near Kirkstall Abbey? The private sector would have done the work far quicker. It will take the council decades to repair the rest of the potholes along the road at this rate.
