March 28: A question of value for money

From: Mrs Wendy Abbott, Boulsworth Avenue, Kingston Upon Hull.

IAN Barnes maintains that at 40p a day the TV licence fee is “far better value for money than The Yorkshire Post priced at 80p” (The Yorkshire Post, March 20). It is compulsory to buy a TV licence if you own and use a set, whereas buying The Yorkshire Post is voluntary. I happen to believe The Yorkshire Post is excellent value, which is more than can be said about current TV entertainment.

Does anyone agree with me that receiving letters, cards and photographs is far preferable to anything technical?
