March 9 letters: Rail choice of Virgin or Virgin

I WAS always under the impression that Conservatives liked competition – but where is the competition in awarding Virgin the East Coast rail franchise? If you want to travel from the capital to Scotland, it is now Virgin on the West Coast and Virgin on the East Coast. It won’t be long before all fares on these lines will go up. I know there are also Grand Central and Hull Trains but they don’t run at the same frequency.
