‘Marigold’ is truly delightful

From: Marilyn Screen, Knaresborough.

IN response to Janet Berry’s letter entitled “The Marigold that failed to bloom” (Yorkshire Post, March 14), my response would be: yes, it is just you.

As pure light-hearted, feel good entertainment, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is the best film of its kind I have seen for ages. Brilliant!

I CERTAINLY enjoyed the film The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, so much so that I have seen it twice.

The superb cast, the comedy, reflective and poignant moments and the location all certainly lent itself to a real “feel good film”.

I do feel however that anyone under the age of 50 certainly wouldn’t appreciate or understand it.

AT least the Homes and Communities Agency had the good grace to commission a survey before declaring that the structural condition of the Bradford Odeon has deteriorated (Yorkshire Post, March 9).

The building was structurally sound when it closed in 2000. That this deterioration was entirely within the control of the public sector owners of this iconic Yorkshire landmark can, presumably, be conveniently glossed over.

We are being sold a pup

From: Betty Brewster, St Davids Road, Otley.

Further to Peter Law and “fit as a butcher’s pup” (Yorkshire Post, March 8) – not on your life. It’s a “butcher’s dog” in my neck of the woods. That’s Yorkshire.
