Masterclass in interviewing

I WATCH Sky News from 6am every morning. What a gift Eamonn Holmes has in interviewing his guests with dignity, yet probing.

He is especially good at having a go a politicians, putting them on the spot, being frank with them and posing devilish questions that the whole country agree should be answered by the Government and their representatives.

He even had the guts to ask the question to Nick Clegg, probably posed by all TV viewers, asking was the Lib Dem peer Lord Rennard “a dirty old man”?

I WAS not at all surprised to read that a number of MPs plus the Chancellor are saying that the living wage in the North should be lower than that which is paid in the wonderful South of our country (Yorkshire Post, January 21).

There is certainly a logical argument in favour of this and I might even go along with it – as long as it applies to all pay. I am sure Members of Parliament, bankers and investment brokers based in the North would be only too pleased to take substantial salary cuts in the interest of overcoming our national financial crises.

If our MPs spent as much time and effort in good government of the country as they do in trying to score points off each other, then we should be far better off. Why can’t they get their act together as we did in the Second World War and work for the benefit of the people who elected them?

THERE is a strong rumour that an application has been made to the Vatican concerning the canonising of Mark Duggan, who was shot dead by the police in London, sparking riots. Have any of your readers seen any evidence to support this?
