A matter of transparency

ACCORDING to Justice Minister Simon Hughes: “The Freedom of Information Act has been a triumph for transparency (The Yorkshire Post, December 31).”

Following a request for the cost of state funded revels at Chequers, the Cabinet Office claimed that they do not keep material “in a way that facilities (sic) extraction”. How very convenient; over to you, Mr Hughes.

I SOMETIMES feel as if I am a second-class citizen. Why? Because, like millions of others, I don’t drive a car. Something to think about if politicians are serious about wanting people to give up the family car.
