More political propaganda

From: Ian Barnes, Blake Court, Wheldrake, York.

AFTER reading an edited version of Alec Shelbrooke’s speech on the BBC in the House of Commons (Yorkshire Post, October 25) I cannot recall having read anything previously which in most part was so full of conceit and drivel in my life.

One of the programmes mentioned is Radio 5 Live morning phone in. Having never listened to it I cannot comment, however he gives no examples of what has been said to back his statement “that you are left in doubt where the presenter’s political loyalties lie”. He then goes on to say James Naughtie on the Today programme said “we” instead of “you” when interviewing a Labour representative!

Is this the best example of bias he can come up with?

Secret Santa

OH how I agree with Jayne Dowle (Yorkshire Post, November 14). Our family have been doing “Secret Santa” for many years.

We even have wishlists on our personal website that family members can choose from. Then a friend emails everyone and tells them who they are buying for.

Result: 20 happy people who have a super Christmas with presents they want and none of us are in debt. Children are not included and we all enjoy giving them a small present to open on Christmas Day.

Policy disaster

From: Chris Beverley, Common Lane, East Ardsley, Wakefield.

YOUR letter from Terry Watson (‘Take a stand on EU and immigration’, Yorkshire Post, November 13) contains much good sense. I feel obliged, however, to pick him up on his claim that Tony Blair “never thought about the consequences of unfettered immigration”.

As was revealed by Blair’s former adviser Andrew Neather some years ago, mass immigration into the UK over the past decade was facilitated due to a politically motivated attempt by Labour Ministers to radically change the country and “rub the Right’s nose in diversity”.
