IN April, my husband complained of severe back pain and sciatic pain. He endured this for several days until it became unbearable. During this time it was instilled into the public not to go to A&E because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

We did eventually contact 111 for advice and he was admitted to hospital. He was tested for Covid-19 which was negative. However he was never tested two days later on discharge, which made no sense! He was told he required an MRI scan and waited in hospital two days to be told it was not available due to Covid-19. Hence he was sent home with only pain relief and the promise of an outpatient appointment.

Ten days later, a MRI scan took place, but after waiting eight weeks for a test result, we were told the result had been left in the tray of a doctor who had left the NHS!

Eventually with our own investigation, a diagnosis was given but with no alternative but to be left on pain relief with no further options of alternative treatment.

One can only assume that because this Government stripped the NHS of resources, it could only cope with Covid-19 patients. There must be thousands of people who have suffered unnecessarily due to the starving of resources to the NHS over the last 10 years of Conservative government to be able to provide care and treatment for all, at all times.

We did and still do not deserve an NHS that can only deal with Covid-19.
