No action over PFI ‘looting’

From: DS Boyes, Rodley Lane, Leeds.

RE the looting of the public purse through PFI schemes (Yorkshire Post, August 27).

TYPICAL to see Bassetlaw MP John Mann criticising PFI contracts when I don’t remember him complaining when his Chancellor / Prime Minister was holding the reins.

Nothing will satisfy victims

From: H Marjorie Gill, Clarence Drive, Menston, Ilkley.

ONE would have thought that the Hillsborough tragedy had been thoroughly discussed (Tom Richmond, Yorkshire Post, August 27), but those whose loved ones were unlawfully killed will never be satisfied with the outcome of any inquiry.

It is always easy to blame the police for not behaving in the regular fashion, but all these armchair critics are never keen on explaining how they would have solved the problem.

Know the facts on heart unit

From: Hilary Andrews, Wentworth Court, Nursery Lane, Leeds.

IT is amazing that the Health Minister can consider the views of 75,000 people in the decision to close the Children’s Heart Unit in Leeds (Yorkshire Post, August 24). Do any of those consulted know where Leeds is? In travelling extensively and meeting, many people most think the only city in Yorkshire is York. Very few have heard of Leeds and most have no idea that Yorkshire is the largest county in England. Surely 600,000 petitions should carry more weight?
