Penalties for sub-letting

From: Shaun Pye, Moor Park Mount, Headingley, Leeds.

YOUR Editorial “Housing howler” (Yorkshire Post, January 12) states “The reaction to no-nonsense plans to jail council tenants who rake in thousands of pounds by sub-letting their properties can be summarised as this: why is this not illegal at present?” The answer is: it is already illegal.
