Politicians have betrayed Britain with lies on immigration

From: A Simmonds, Columbus Ravine, Scarborough.

WHAT a sanctimonious speech by Ed Miliband on immigration (Yorkshire Post, December 15). He sounds more like a Victorian evangelist than a modern MP.

For one awful moment I thought that Tony Blair was
back.

British people have been treated in a patronising manner on this subject for the last 30 years, by all politicians ever since Lady Thatcher was Prime Minister.

They all used the insult of racism towards anyone who did not agree with them when they pursued their disastrous policies. What better way to fuel resentment?

No wonder people are turning away from mainstream politicians.

i WOULD like to thank you for publishing the letter written by David Quarrie (Yorkshire Post, December 15).

I have long held the views
put forward by him so succinctly. I too have felt to be in total despair.

Politicians seem to have little idea nor understanding of what it is like to feel to be a foreigner in one’s own country.

The talk of late is integration.
I wonder how many people have lived here for many years and yet have little, if any, command of the English language?

Thank you once again for publishing Mr Quarrie’s letter.

NOW the public have the
results of the Census, this tells us that the population has gone up by three-and-a-half million in 10 years.

So, in 20 years this country will be swamped and fit to burst. We are struggling now with a shortage of gas and electricity and what will happen when we have a bad drought?

There are no jobs now for three million, so where will the jobs come from for millions more? Where is the money coming from to feed all these extra people?

Such a situation could cause civil unrest. Someone must act now, before it is too late.

IT is just over two-and-a-half years since David (chameleon) Cameron came to Yorkshire, sowing seeds of hope in return for votes.

The seeds seem to have been cast on stony ground. If there was to have been help for God’s own county it seemed to have only got as far as the Treasury and then disappeared.

Yorkshire is and always has been ignored by Conservative governments. It’s not surprising that by their thousands the Conservative members are going to Ukip. Perhaps the chameleon can suck up to the few Lib Dems left to get them by promises to join him as their party is now in terminal decline.

As for promises to Yorkshire for the 2015 general election, the chameleon might as well not bother. All the pleading by the Yorkshire Post since he became Prime Minister have failed.

There’s an old Yorkshire saying “what we don’t get we don’t have to thank you for” and there’s another – “once bitten, twice shy”. To all Yorkshire Tory MPs: take this to London and give it to the chameleon. It’s a Yorkshire promise.
