In reference to reports about putting airport arrivals into hotels to quarantine when they land - could we do something similar for the “covidiots” that are flouting the rules with raves, parties, gatherings etc?

Instead of putting them into hotels, they could quarantine in solitary confinement at prisons for 14 days.

It would make them realise how serious we are about stopping Covid-19.

MY wife and I went to the NHS “hub” Covid centre at Moor Lane, Dringhouses, York, for our first Covid vaccination. All the staff were helpful, efficient, happy and knew exactly what they were doing.

The whole site seemed well planned and organised In these grim times it was so uplifting to be among so many happy cheery folk who were all doing their very best despite the cold wet weather.

Do not hesitate to take up your chance when your turn comes. Thanks to all concerned.

I AGREE with your correspondent Karen Ashley (The Yorkshire Post, February 6) that a major inquiry into the tragic Covid issues should not begin now.

What should continue is ongoing learning at national and regional levels (plus links between the two) so that leaders’ appreciation of this ever-changing problem can be enriched by formal lightweight debate.

At best, debate over (abstract) rational themes will lead to improvement over how things get done within complex scenarios burdened by Covid. And the participation of any concerned group – including their constructive criticism – should be made welcome.

WHAT a triumph! Kate Bingham, a venture capitalist married to a Conservative MP, was appointed to head the UK’s Vaccine Task Force by our much maligned Prime Minister.

Predictably her appointment caused controversy for several reasons but, as usual with the EU, the processes (procurement and approval) all got bogged down. They really are renowned for red tape.

If the EU had been successful, we would have heard non-stop about Kate Bingham and how she and Boris Johnson had denied millions in Britain a jab that could have saved their lives. Sovereignty has indeed trumped all other arguments.
