Some foods like Aberdeen Angus beef are well known for quality and are marketed for this reason.

We now see niche markets developing like single apple variety ciders, olive oil from single groves and Spelt flour used in some supermarket bread.

Could some rare farm livestock benefit from micro-marketing of small production runs which could be expanded to regional or selected national listings, benefiting breed status and producers?

Disadvantages of ambition

Cameron and Osborne, with a Cabinet of millionaires, are making things worse by clobbering the disabled and single mums with their harsh benefit changes. Ambition was also mentioned. Well, we don’t want everyone to be as pushy and ambitious as Maggie Thatcher and Lord Sugar. Ambition carried to its ultimate is as civilised as a ferret in a rabbit hutch. Talk about the selfish gene!

INTERESTINGLY, Leeds City Council closed down Pontefract Lane car boot sale because of the high level of counterfeit goods on sale. I noticed when walking down Whitehall Road that they are to open a car boot sale there. Why the double standards?
