HAVING been fined for failures in dealing with vulnerable customers, no doubt Yorkshire Building Society will be paying their chief executives and senior managers obscene bonuses. Should the people responsible not be sacked?

WHY spend all these millions on a new meteorological computer? Can we not just accept that “changeable conditions” will always remain as a reasonably accurate summary? Mother Shipton suggested that “save for the leaves on the trees, there would come a time when we would not know one season from another” – and she had no access to a computer!
