Seaside experience was nothing but positive

From: David J Whitehead, Sunnydale Crescent, Hinckley.

HAVING read Jayne Dowle’s article (Yorkshire Post, June 9) in your excellent newspaper purchased on our first holiday in Yorkshire, I felt compelled on returning home to write after a marvellous week in Bridlington.

Jayne, you didn’t drop lucky. Our experience was nothing but positive from start to finish. We met nothing but politeness, assistance and attentiveness, but not overbearing shop assistants. Our guesthouse could not have been better or the owners more warm and friendly.

In our experience of seaside holidays in this country our bedroom was spacious, very well furnished, en suite with double shower, and can I say, the breakfast was of a quality and quantity second to none.

To say we were set up for the day is not overstated, suffice to add I am suffering withdrawal symptoms.

Our visits to other resorts along the coast (Scarborough, Filey and the magnificent Flamborough Head) and inland (York and Wetwang) saw a similar level of friendliness and courtesy.

York’s park and ride was well served and not expensive. Cafes, restaurants aplenty and not one disappointed for service, food quality and good value for money. This week in Brid was “the seaside experience” and it is somewhat sad to discover this in our late 50s.

Yes – back next year and this time with a four-year-old. Well, at least I can build sandcastles on exceptional beaches without folk perhaps thinking I was on a day visit with my carer, the lady wife.

Well done Brid, Yorkshire and our hosts at the Malvern guesthouse. A richly deserved 10 out of 10 seaside experience.
