Simpler procedures would make life easier

From: David H Rhodes, Keble Park North, Bishopthorpe, York.

I RECENTLY received a promotional letter from my telephone network provider with an offer that seemed beneficial. Why should it be necessary to have to apply?

I am already a customer, the offer will benefit me, so why not just apply it and tell me that my account will reduce from my next bill?

This would surely be pleasing to most clients.

The reality is that one is subject to a tedious fact-giving session. You to them and they to you. It’s the rules you know.

This is made even less enjoyable when one has a problem, possibly age-related. When one is slightly hard of hearing the phone seems to echo, and when given various verbal options my mind cannot analyse as quickly as I would wish.

Could the latter be there simply as a temptation to say yes just to move the situation on, and if so does one later claim mis-selling?

Please, large utility companies et al, review and simplify your procedures. Age does not naturally make us stupid, but our comprehension needs are different.
