Soap ought to clean up its act

I AM in agreement with the comments made by David Mitchell (The Yorkshire Post, March 10) about Emmerdale. Mr Mitchell is not alone when he states “the programme is now a pale shadow of its former entertainment”. I wrote to you some months ago pointing out that this is a family show which comes on our screens at a time when young children are still watching TV. ITV should clean up its act or be required take the programme off the air.

IF Top Gear is the most viewed programme on BBC2, isn’t it proof that the BBC has too many channels and should cut back the likes of BBC4?
