Steps Cameron must take to win a Conservative majority

From: D Wood, Thorntree Lane, Goole.

NICK Clegg’s declaration that he would form a coalition with Labour (Yorkshire Post, July 24) is typical of the egotistical and arrogant, professional political class that now lead the three so-called main parties.

This political pygmy (Prime Minister David Cameron and Labour leader Ed Miliband are no different) has stated that he joined the present coalition for the benefit of the country. What a load of hogwash.

He joined the coalition with the Conservatives because it was the only way he could get what he craved – power – and for no other reason.

Likewise when this coalition is thrown out through Mr Clegg’s crackpot policies and David Cameron’s gutless pandering to this man’s whims, Mr Clegg will join Labour in a coalition (if they get the most votes) once again not for the country’s benefit, but because it is the only way he can hold on to power he should never have had in the first place.

The present coalition has proved beyond doubt that except in time of war (with leaders like Cameron, Clegg and Miliband, God forbid) a coalition government is totally useless, especially when led by clueless nonentities like this one. No one voted for this government, we should never put up with another (Tom Richmond, Yorkshire Post, July 28).

If David Cameron wants to be a real Prime Minister, he should now do the following: give us an immediate in or out referendum on the EU; scrap the Human Rights Act; stop all foreign aid until our finances are on an even keel and stop all immigration until the current mess is cleared up (we know who is in the country so we can remove those we do not want here).

Except for foreign aid these are all promises he made before the last election. He should then ditch Mr Clegg and go to the country. He will secure a landslide and wipe out Mr Clegg and his nincompoop Lib Dems at the same time.

These things must be done before an election as everyone knows he can’t be trusted after he is in power, which is why he did not win outright in 2010.

THE prospect of our becoming another Switzerland seems to have generated some excitement (Yorkshire Post, July 27).

Before we get too carried away, should we not open the lid of this superficially attractive chocolate box and look beneath the tempting contents?

There we might find murky evidence of numbered bank accounts of present-day crooks and despots. Is that to be our future?

THE “posh boys” are squeezing the lifeblood, fighting spirit and Great out of Britain to maintain the stranglehold their friends, the Money Gods, keep on us. It’s being reflected in the Olympics. Thanks to Cameron, Clegg and Osborne.
