Sterling work by caring and friendly NHS staff

From: Norma D McNichol, Lynwood Drive, Barnsley.

I WRITE in reply to the letter from Mrs Linda Ashby from Guiseley (Yorkshire Post, October 4).

I, too, have had excellent service from the staff at Barnsley Hospital connected with the breast unit. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in late July and had surgery on August 7.

I have just had my second chemotherapy treatment and have had a second ultrasound scan to check out an area of concern (which was not affected).

Everyone who I have seen or been treated by have been absolutely great, kind, extremely helpful, very informative and friendly while remaining professional at all times. I have been given telephone numbers to ring if I am worried or need advice (which I have had occasion to use).

I count myself very lucky to have been called for a mammogram at 72-years-old and am so glad I went along when
I did.

So, many thanks to all the
staff at Barnsley who do sterling work for the good folk of the town.

We are always hearing bad things about the NHS so it
is nice to discover it is not
all bad.
