Stop this mass hysteria now!

From: Dai Woosnam, Woodrow Park, Scartho, Grimsby.

THE sad death of Gary Speed was seemingly an obsession of the UK football world for week after week. And now we have Bolton midfielder Fabrice Muamba and his collapse.

I feel sorry for all those people whose loved ones died of sudden heart failure the very same week. They did not get a top heart surgeon leaping from his seat in the stands.

I shudder to think how the UK football scene would have reacted if Muamba had actually died. Stop this mass hysteria now. We are becoming an emotionally incontinent nation.

Shedding light on castle deaths

From: Michael Ross, Weeton Lane, Dunkeswick.

YOUR recent article regarding the opening to the public of Harewood Castle reminded me of my late father telling me as a boy, stories of deaths either by accident or suicide occuring in or around the castle, possibly sometime around the first half of the 20th century.

I would be interested to know if any of your readers could shed some light on these stories.
