Theatre must be brought to book

From: R & S Chase, Cowrakes Road, Lindley, Huddersfield.

I WAS shocked to realise that even with seven days’ notice Leeds Grand will not try to resell tickets that they have been told cannot be used.

On further enquiry I was told that this failure to help (even with an administration charge being applied) was due to the tickets having been bought from the Information Centre at Leeds Railway Station. There, after payment, I was given a voucher to allow me to collect the tickets from the Grand.

If Leeds Grand is willing to sell tickets through outlets other than its own box office, I think it should afford those customers the same consideration as those who deal directly with its box office. Similarly Leeds information Centre said they were helpless in the face of the theatre’s intransigence. Should they continue to sell tickets on behalf of this obstructive theatre?

Who would willingly expose themselves to substantial financial loss by ever again booking seats?

Clocking off

From: Barbara Harrison, Parkside Avenue, Queensbury, Bradford.

CUTTING back on the cost of gas and electricity is easy – don’t be dictated to about the clocks going back an hour (the end of British Summer time).

This simple exercise would not only save everyone the rising costs of dual fuel but would also enable the nation to “go green” whilst enjoying at the same time the health benefits of longer daylight hours – “simples” to quote a well known phrase. Perhaps the Government can oblige – after all we hear so much about their policies.

Tories sink UK

From: Terry Duncan, Greame Road, Bridlington, East Yorkshire.

WHO is advising David Cameron? I thought he was to be a brilliant leader of my Tory party.

Not only is he failing to conserve, with a small ‘c’, the United Kingdom, but he rang its death knell when he threatened the future of Scottish shipyards.

Does he really think that the citizens of the present UK are so naive? Voters are beginning to see through Mr Cameron and it is time that the Tories saw him off.
