Time to put a stop to fatwas
MANY people regularly question the validity of Christian beliefs and suggest that they do more harm than good.
There is one certain fact and that is that Christians believe that all human beings are God’s children and deserve our support and prayer when they are in trouble or distress in any country or situation, belonging to any religion or none.

Hide AdOne of Christ’s most famous sayings is: “God desires not the Death of a Sinner but rather that he should turn from his wickedness and live.” If only our Muslim Brotherhood would take this message to heart and stop their famous fatwas.
Peter was a real man of books

IN addition to Peter Gosden’s distinguished academic career, as set out in your obituary of him (Yorkshire Post, October 6), he was also a much respected trustee of the Leeds Library.
His fellow trustees there had wished him to become the president of the library had his health permitted it.
A very convivial man, Peter was also a member of the Leeds Luncheon Club.

The answer: any Briton who is semi-educated musically. But perhaps the last word of that sentence is unnecessary.
Certainly, David Cameron’s ignorance of his heritage reflects ill on his alma mater.
