I WAS totally dismayed to see the item regarding fly tipping in the countryside on a recent edition of Countryfile.

The selfish morons who obviously have transport and drive to the beautiful countryside we have (which is there for all to enjoy) and tip mountains, literally mountains, of rubbish.

Some of the areas looked like refugee camps you see in war-ravaged countries where they have no choice. We do have a choice.

Even this lockdown offers no excuse for fly-tipping – Mo Metcalf-Fisher

We live in a beautiful democratic country and are on lockdown because of Covid-19.

We have been asked to respect our freedoms to prevent further spread of this deadly disease.

Yet people use this opportunity to drive and deposit their foul-smelling rubbish for someone else – anyone, they don’t care – to clear away.

I see this so many times when I have been travelling to work where rubbish, cans, takeaways etc are just thrown from car windows, expensive BMWs and others. Only minutes away is the tip.

The tips are open so there is no reason why they can’t travel to a tip in town instead of the countryside.

I keep telling myself they are a minority of morons but I begin to wonder. They are uneducated and have no respect for anyone.

Editor’s note: first and foremost - and rarely have I written down these words with more sincerity - I hope this finds you well.
