Tropical World a refurbished jewel in crown

From: Coun Mark Dobson, Executive Board member for the Environment, Civic Hall, Leeds.

I WAS disappointed to hear
about Mr Booth’s less than positive experience at Tropical World in Roundhay Park (The Yorkshire Post, May 27), particularly given that we have been refurbishing to site for around 18 months now and
there are more improvements to come.

Feedback from the general public has been really encouraging and I hope the changes to come will be welcomed, too. Work on a new conservatory and toilets is scheduled to start in September and a new aquarium will be developed from January next year.

Tropical World is a jewel in the crown of the city’s offer and already attracts more
than 300,000 visitors per
year.

As well as paying visitors, we also welcome around 15,000 people on educational visits.

I hope Mr Booth will visit Tropical World again in the future.

From: Lewis Proll, Vesper Gate Mount, Leeds.

REGARDING the letter registering deep disappointment with a visit to Tropical World. Apparently £3.40 (less if you have the gumption to get a Leeds Card) represents poor value. I suggest a visit to any “Sea Life Centre” might correct that misconception.
