WELL said Janet McCulloch (The Yorkshire Post, June 24), Doncaster has been invisible too long. Look North weather maps show Sheffield and Lincoln, but not Doncaster which lies between them.

Apart from having an easily accessible, modern airport, Doncaster enjoys better weather than Bradford. Our annual average temperature is one degree warmer. Our average annual rainfall is almost 10 inches less. When Bradford is snowbound, Doncaster has rain or a dusting of snow.

In Nostalgia (The Yorkshire Post, June 25), we were told International Harvesters made agricultural machinery in Bradford from 1955 to 1982. They were in Doncaster from 1938 to 1982.

Doncaster is in the centre of the Yorkshire/Humber area, and has easy access to the M62 and A1M. Trains from London to Edinburgh and Hull to Manchester connect in Doncaster.

Editor’s note: first and foremost - and rarely have I written down these words with more sincerity - I hope this finds you well.

Almost certainly you are here because you value the quality and the integrity of the journalism produced by The Yorkshire Post’s journalists - almost all of which live alongside you in Yorkshire, spending the wages they earn with Yorkshire businesses - who last year took this title to the industry watchdog’s Most Trusted Newspaper in Britain accolade.
