Unhappy landing at Yorkshire’s rip-off airport

From: Robin Kempster, Vine Court, Clifton, Brighouse.

THE car parking system at
Leeds Bradford International Airport is little short of mechanised robbery – as highlighted by a number of letters in The Yorkshire Post over the years.

On Sunday, March 16, I arrived at the drop-off car park (£2 for up to 30 mins) at 22.20 to meet passengers from the flight from Prague which had landed at 22.18.

There was a delay in unloading the aircraft, followed by further delays in the car park, where
only one exit barrier was operational.

Having reached the pay point at 22.52, I was required to fork out £5 to get out of the place.

The delays in each case were caused by problems at the airport, matters over which I had no control.

I wonder how frequently this sort of thing happens at LBA, and how many customers are ripped off as a result?

Inevitably, there was no member of staff around at the time to assist with the exit barriers; and LBA, which says on its website that it will respond to complaints within 24 hours, has been silent on the matter.

If this is the way LBA treats its customers, I’ll be advising relatives and friends in future to travel to Yorkshire via Lancashire.
